Report of a Malaki ma Kongo opening edition in France

2003 - capoeira during Malaki ma Kongo festival in France

Malaki ma Kongo has the honour of addressing to you our Malaki ma Kongo France section’s report.

Malaki is synonimous of kermesse, festival and Kongo, name of the ancient Kongo kingdom, means Peace, Love, Brotherhood.
The literal translation of Malaki ma Kongo is therefore: Festival of Peace.
The first Malaki ma Kongo Peace Festival edition was held from july 07th to july 13th in Mfoa-Brazzaville in Congo.
At first, Malaki presented iteself in the form of a festival promoting the original culture from the deep and eternal Africa, through different shows.
However, its main axis remains teathre.Although inspired by Kongo culture –  which Malaki votes itself to assure the promotion of – the festival is open to the world’s cultures… Malaki’s only specificity consists in each edition’s opening and closing with aperitifs made solely by african products, as palm, cane sugar, orange, banana wine; ginger juice but also titbits as kola; roots; fried plantains; peanuts; harvest fruits; etc. The first and last shows are always around a big camp fire.

After Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Guadalupe, Italy, Haïti, finally the African culture roots festival Malaki ma Kongo is even in France.

Such activities are part of a world program for promoting and spreading Kongo culture on one side; celebrating the world’s four corners scattered Kongo puzzle reunion on the other side.
We are available to realize Malaki ma Kongo festival anywhere, and there we’ll invite all Ne Kongoes in the rispect of  Bukongo (Kongo ethics).
For your information, the 11th Malaki ma Kongo edition 2002 was realized on three continents:

  • Europe-Italy in Nove di Bassano, in may;
  • Africa-Congo in Kinshasa, in october , and in Brazzaville in september;
  • America-Haïti in Port au Prince, in november

During this three-continental Malaki ma Kongo edition, we found in Haïti a village populated by Ne Kongo of Nsundi clan, without forgetting the Queen Nzinga descendents’ presence.
